Scientific Theatre
The core of the 2012 Freiburg Forum on Environmental Governance "Setting the Stage for Sustainable Consumption" will be a theatre based scientific discussion, which will introduce and open for discussion the topic of sustainable consumption. Our scientific theatre - Science, Society, Sufficiency: three acts towards sustainable consumption, will focus on the following subtopics:
- Consumer philosophy and sufficiency,
- Global consumption patterns relating to food and agriculture, and
- The role of the civil society.
The Scientific Theatre will comprise of three short introductory presentations by keynote speakers (names to be announced shortly), three theatrical vignettes staged by MEG students and three discussion rounds. The student actors will improvise and remain in their respective roles whilst engaging in the discussions with the audience and the keynote speakers.
The project is a production of MEG students and director Marcelo Miguel. It aims to both inform and engage the audience in a vivid discussion about the topic of sustainable consumption.
